Backcountry riders and skiers have the potential to trigger shallow surface slabs or sluffs as well as deeper hard slabs that lie upon a persistent weak layer of faceted snow. Careful evaluation is recommended and a few tracks on a slope do not guarantee that the slope is stable.
The chance continues to trigger dangerous slab avalanches on steep slopes. These slabs could be hard and have depths to three feet. They are most likely to be found in very steep avalanche starting zones or in and around rocky or cliff areas.

In the mountains accumulations could reach as much as seven inches in some areas with lower elevations receiving lesser amounts or possibly a mix of rain and snow. Winds are to be light with this system and mountain temperatures are to reach the upper twenties during the afternoon. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate. Surface slabs to two feet could be triggered in steep terrain in the Tetons. In the Southwest Trails/Greys River and the Togwotee Pass areas harder slabs to three foot depths could be triggered where they are underlain by weak faceted snow.
