Points saillants
DANGEROUS slabs up to four feet in depth persist. Yesterday a snowmobiler triggered a three foot deep slab on an east southeast aspect at an elevation of 8,500 feet. Two slabs estimated to be three feet in depth are also believed to have released naturally on a northerly aspect in the southern Tetons yesterday. Similar events could be triggered today especially in cliff areas and in steep wind loaded starting zones that have not already had recent avalanche activity. Wet slides are possible on steep sunlit aspects as the day warms. With persistant deep slab instability and five avalanche fatalities so far this season the consequences of deep burial and severe trauma should not be underestimated.
