Points saillants

Wind slab avalanches will be possible to trigger tomorrow on leeward slopes.  Light to moderate winds will deposit new snow on NE, N, and NW terrain. Monitor the depth of wind slabs, and be cautious of wind loaded slopes on steep and consequentional terrain.

    2-4" of new snow is forecasted for tonight and into tomorrow. Winds will start out tonight from the southeast, south and by noon southwest. Winds are expected to be light with moderate gusts.  Human triggered avalanches on wind loaded aspects could be possible tomorrow near and above treeline.  Wind deposited snow can be 3-5 times  deeper than in sheltered areas.

Avalanche Discussion

The buried surface hoar that was found on 12/1 at Todd Ridge has not been found by forecasters in other zones within our forecast area. Overall total snow depth averages around 3 feet deep. Continue to look for hazards such as shallow rocks and logs lurking in the snowpack.
