Snowpack Structure

The various wind slabs have bonded with each other and the old snowpack. Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on shady slopes. Avalanches can in some places be released in deep layers in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes.

Avalanche Activity

Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.

More recent wind slabs are clearly recognisable. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular at the base of rock walls, and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in particular on steep shady slopes. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Avalanches can be triggered in the old snowpack reach large size in isolated cases in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes.
