Points saillants

The weather conditions will give rise to increasing consolidation of the snowpack.

Problèmes avalancheux

  • Persistent weak layers

    • Toutes altitudes

Avalanche Activity

The weather conditions will give rise to increasing consolidation of the snowpack.

Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on shady slopes. In isolated cases the avalanches can be triggered in deep layers of the snowpack and reach medium size. This applies in particular in case of a large load. The avalanche prone locations are rare but are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. As the temperature drops there will be a rapid decrease in the danger of moist and wet avalanches.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow of Monday is poorly bonded in all aspects below approximately 2600 m. In many cases new snow is lying on a hard crust. Since Monday on steep slopes small and medium-sized avalanches were reported. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack on shady slopes. In all regions in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
