The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs formed by the strong wind represent the main danger. The new snow and wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects above approximately 2200 m. Avalanches can in very isolated cases be released in deep layers reach large size especially on steep north, northwest and northeast facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs are lying on the quite favourable surface of an old snowpack above approximately 2200 m. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on steep north, northeast and northwest facing slopes.
