Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche where winds have drifted new snow into cohesive slabs near and above treeline. More dangerous slopes will have more than about 10 inches of recently drifted snow. Wind-drifted snow often feels stiff or has a wave or pillow-like appearance. Cracking in recently drifted snow is an indication of instability and a sign to move to slopes less than about 35 degrees in steepness.
