Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Stability in the existing snowpack will remain good; it will continue to thaw overnight with the surface refreezing during the day. Fresh snow accumulations are not expected to be significant. Cornice stability will improve as the temperature drops during the day. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Very strong South-South-West winds overnight veer to the West and ease during the day. Showers, mainly overnight will fall as snow only on the higher summits. The freezing level will be above the summits overnight dropping to around 800 metres by the end of the period. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry day with moderate South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack continues to slowly thaw but remains well bonded and stable. Some large cornices remain above North to East aspects and collapse of these is is possible. The avalanche hazard is Low.
