At the higher elevations periods of heavy snowfall and westerly winds are forecast to begin to create pockets of new soft slab on leeward aspects. These slabs could build to depths of 6 to 18 inches. They will form on crust and firm old snow surfaces and could be human triggered on steep avalanche prone slopes.
