Avalanche Summary

You could trigger a dangerous avalanche on north, northeast, and east-facing slopes at all elevations. The snowpack is thin in this area, and you can impact buried weak snow layers near the ground. Conditions will be more dangerous in near and above treeline areas where freshly wind-drifted snow now rests on top of the weak snow below. Assess the snowpack carefully before traveling on and under steep slopes. Avoid areas beneath ridgelines, cornices, and gullies where you see evidence of drifting such as rounded snow pillows or a hard, sculpted snow surface. You will find safer conditions on wind-sheltered slopes where the snowpack is more than about 5 feet deep.
