Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger an avalanche on north through east to south-east facing slopes at upper elevations in the Gore Range. Strong winds drifted snow into a dense, cohesive slab that rests on top of a buried weak layer two to four feet below the surface of the snow. Even a small avalanche within the new snow can gain enough mass to create a wide-breaking and far-running avalanche. Stick to slopes less than about 30 degrees at lower elevations for safer travel options.
