Avalanche Summary

New snow and wind return on Thursday, increasing your chances of triggering avalanches in wind-drifted snow at upper elevations. The most dangerous places are where you find 8 inches or more of drifted snow forming a slab on steep alpine slopes. Winds shift during the storm from southwest to northwest, loading north through southeast-facing slopes above treeline.

Look for and avoid fresh and firm lens-shaped drifts below ridgelines and cliffs, around rocky outcrops, and in gullies. Safer travel can be found at lower elevations out of the wind.
