An Avalanche Warning is in effect for the southern San Juan Mountains including areas surrounding Lizard Head, Coal Bank, and Molas Passes, the Rico Mountains, the La Plata Mountains, Vallecito, Wolf Creek and Cumbres Passes. Expect very dangerous avalanche conditions from Tuesday evening through Thursday afternoon. You can very easily trigger avalanches large enough to bury you and large avalanches may release spontaneously. Travel in backcountry avalanche terrain is not recommended.
