Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs require caution.

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, wind slabs formed in the last two days in particular above the tree line. Wind slabs can in some places be released by small loads, in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. They represent the main danger. Caution is to be exercised in pass areas in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain, in particular on steep slopes.

Snowpack Structure

20 to 30 cm of snow fell in the last two days above approximately 1800 m. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, wind slabs formed.
