Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Strong Southwest to West winds and new snow over the last several days have formed dense and hard slabs up to four feet in depth in avalanche terrrain. These slabs lie on leeward slopes and could be triggered today by backcountry users on steep terrain and not necessarily by the first rider on the slope. Once triggered these slabs have the potential to pull out deeper layers of snow. Saturday four snowmobilers near the Turkey Creek/Indian Creek confluence outside of LaBarge triggered an avalanche in which one rider was caught, partially buried and suffered minor injuries.
