Points saillants
At the mid and upper elevation southwest winds have formed new soft slabs up to one foot in depth. Older pockets of wind slab up to two feet in depth also persist in steep wind loaded starting zones and cliff areas. Yesterday two separate parties triggered wind slabs 14 to 18 inches in depth in Granite Canyon. One skier was caught and carried but not injured. Similar events could be triggered today. At the lower elevations pockets of slab up to two feet in depth could still be triggered on a persistant weak layer of buried surface hoar.
