You can trigger an avalanche in areas where wind has drifted snow into a cohesive slab on upper-elevations northerly and easterly slopes. Avoid terrain with evidence of wind-drifting such as fresh cornice growth, smooth, lens-shapes pillows or sculpted features. Retreat to more wind-sheltered areas or less-steep slopes if you experience cracking in the surface snow. If you do trigger an avalanche, it could break on weak layers near the ground and make for a rough ride. Stick to lower-elevation areas or slopes less than about 30 degrees steepness for safer options.
