Points saillants

The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW today. Isolated pockets of recently formed surface slabs to eighteen inches in depth could still be triggered by backcountry travelers today in steep avalanche starting zones and near cliff edges. Although expected to be relatively small in size these slabs could carry significant consequenses in exposed terrain.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )There will be another storm system developing Saturday into Sunday but it will mainly affect areas East of the Divide with just scattered snow showers in the Western Mountains with light accumulations if any. Highs in the low teens and light winds are expected.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The hazard is expected to be LOW at all elevations throughout Western Wyoming where generally stable snow exists, but isolated pockets of soft or hard slabs could be triggered in very steep terrain("extreme" ) near ridgetops and cliff edges. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
