Forecast Snow Stability: Pockets of moderately bonded windslab will gradually build in extent and depth throughout the forecast period. Steep wind sheltered terrain will mainly be affected, North-East to South-East aspects, generally above 700 metres. Elsewhere, the old snowpack will remain stable and well consolidated throughout, very firm at higher elevations. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The fresh to strong Westerly airflow will persist throughout the forecast period, accompanied by frequent snow showers. Snow will settle to lower elevations as the freezing level will fluctuate around 400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Showers, occasionally prolonged, throughout the day, with rain at lower levels, snow settling above 700 metres. Fresh Westerly wind. Freezing level around 750 metres, gradually lowering during the day. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally well consolidated and stable throughout. There is a dusting of new snow above 750 metres. Pockets of windslab are developing in steep wind sheltered locations, mainly East aspects above 800 metres, but accumulations are generally shallow. The avalanche hazard is Low.
