Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will build overnight above 800m mostly on North-West through North to East aspects. Greatest accumulations will be in steep wind sheltered locations such as gully tops and corrie rims. As the freezing level rises, instabilities within the windslab will increase. Fragile cornices will develop above the same aspects. The snowpack will start to consolidate towards the end of the period. Elsewhere, the terrain will be mostly wind scoured. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: Heavy precipitation overnight, will ease throughout the early hours, and increase during the afternoon. Initially this will fall as snow above 500 metres. As the freezing level rises to summit level, snow will be confined to the highest summits. Gale force Southerly winds will become South-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry day with occasional light snow showers. The freezing level rose during the morning to around 500 metres.
