Avalanche Activity

CM for 7/1/22 Considerable hazard. New snow instabilities, windslab development on N to E aspects above 850m

Forecast Snow Stability: New snow instabilities will exist with unstable windslab development occurring on steep, wind sheltered North to Easterly aspects above 850 metres. In particular on North-Easterly facing places such as gully tops and around coire rims. Additionally some cross-loading on gully flanks of other high sheltered aspects will occur. New developing cornices will be weak around corrie rims on same aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be further frequent snow showers overnight and during the day, these accompanied by moderate to strong West-South-West, then Westerly winds. New snow expected lying from around 200 metres Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers have affected the area over the period. The winds have increased during the day moderate to strong Southerly ObservedSnowStability: Localised new snow instabilities are present on steep, sheltered North-West to North-East facing gullies and around coire rims above 950 metres. Overall cover remains sparse and at lower elevations the new unconsolidated deposits lie on bare ground. Good stability in other locations where many slopes remain wind- scoured. The avalanche hazard is Moderate
