Avalanche Activity

Caution is to be exercised adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas, in particular in the regions neighbouring those that are subject to danger level 3 (considerable).

Some fresh snow as well as local small wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in particular on steep north, east and southwest facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. Along the border with France, along the border with Switzerland and in the regions neighbouring those that are subject to danger level 3 (considerable) and on wind-loaded slopes the avalanche danger is one level higher. In some places the avalanches can be released in the large-grained old snow and reach medium size.

Snowpack Structure

Some snow has fallen in particular along the border with France, along the border with Switzerland and in the regions neighbouring those that are subject to danger level 3 (considerable). Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the snowpack on shady slopes. Over a wide area less snow than usual is lying.
