Avalanche Activity

Fresh and older wind slabs represent the main danger.

In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls precarious wind slabs formed. Snow sport participants can release avalanches in isolated cases, including medium-sized ones. The hard wind slabs of the last few days are to be bypassed as far as possible.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area various wind slab layers are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. At higher altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes.
