A storm system is currently moving through SE Utah and 3"-7" are possible in the Abajo Mountains. We have limited information at this time, but new snow and wind will create potentially unstable slabs of wind drifted snow on the leeward sides of ridge crests and terrain features in wind affected terrain. In some cases, fresh drifts may be sitting on top of weak, sugary, faceted snow making them more sensitive to the weight of a skier or rider. Wind slabs are recognizable by their smooth, rounded appearance, and cracking is a sign of instability. Avoid being on or under steep wind drifted slopes today. We will get down there later this week and have updated information on Saturday morning.

Low snow conditions also present a significant hazard and rocks, stumps, and deadfall lie just below the surface.
