Avalanche Activity

The rain will give rise in the afternoon to moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2200 m.

Up to 2200 m rain will fall in the afternoon in some regions. This situation will give rise to significant moistening of the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes. In particular below approximately 2300 m and on very steep slopes small to medium-sized moist snow slides and avalanches are possible as the penetration by moisture increases.

Snowpack Structure

Above approximately 2300 m: The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften later than the day before. The rain will give rise in the afternoon to increasing moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2300 m. This situation will give rise to a loss of strength within the old snowpack.

Tendency

A lot of snow will fall on Monday. Increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall.
