Avalanche Summary

Steep, wind-drifted features on shadier slopes are lingering hazards to identify and avoid. You can trigger an avalanche where stiffer slabs have formed over weaker layers and crusts that could catch you off guard and sweep you down the mountain. Lower-angle, wind-sheltered areas are safer options.

Watch for snow surfaces on southerly slopes to become wet and unstable as the sun pops out and rapidly warms slopes. Pinwheels and rollerballs are early warning signs for larger wet avalanches.
