Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE. Dangerous, unstable slabs to forty inches deep rest on a variety of aspects and are sensitive to human triggers. During the day the hazard will increase first on sunlit aspects then warming temperatures will raise the sensitivity of slabs on most steep slopes. Careful snowpack evaluation, cautious route-finding and conservative decision-making are essential for safe travel in avalanche terrain today.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. ) The high pressure center will slowly move east into Tuesday as Pacific moisture brings clouds into the mountains by Tuesday afternoon with a chance of light snow by evening. Morning low temperatures in the mountains will be near twenty then warm to the low thirties. Winds will be southwesterly at 20 to 25 miles per hour on exposed ridges.The general avalanche hazard will remain CONSIDERABLE above 7500 feet through the forecast area. Dangerous slab avalanches to forty inches in depth could be easily triggered by backcountry users on many aspects. Warming temperatures will increase the sensitivity of slabs on sunlit slopes. Careful route-finding will be essential for safe travel in avalanche terrain.
