Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is LOW. Above 9,000 feet isolated pockets of dense slab up to 18 inches deep lie upon weak, old snow surfaces. Some potential persists to trigger these slabs in steep, wind-loaded avalanche starting zones. Below 9,000 feet, the snowpack is shallow and avalanche activity is unlikely.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies on Thanksgiving will be mostly clear. Temperatures in the mountains will be in the single digits in the morning and rise into the teens in the afternoon. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Instability persists on some steep upper elevation northerly aspects. Good snowpack stability evaluation and route finding skills can be used to avoid these unstable areas.
