Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW at all elevations this morning and will increase to Moderate above 8000' this afternoon as new snow and strong winds form soft surface slabs to a foot in depth. These slabs lie upon hard surface crusts and pockets may be triggered by skiers and riders in steep avalanche starting zones and near cliff edges.

A storm should bring snow to WEstern Wyoming form midnight through about noon on Thursday, followed by a cold front and some lingereing afternoon snow showers. High temperatures at 9000' are to be in the upper teens. Winds will increase overnight and will be the strongest between 6am and noon, averaging 25 to 35 mph from the Southwest.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:With relatively small amounts of snowfall predicted the avalacnhe hazard should remain LOW at all elevaitons on Thursday, with triggereable isolated pockets to 8" in steep higher terrain.
