The general avalanche hazard is LOW today. Mostly stable snow exists and slab avalanches are unlikely today. As new snow arrives and accumulates on the existing hard snow surfaces, skiers or riders may release shallow sluffs in very steep terrain later in the day. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area from 6pm this evening through 6am Tuesday.

Southwest winds are to increase to thirty to forty mile per hour averages with higher gusts. A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR 12 PM SUNDAY THROUGH 6 AM TUESDAY FOR THE TETON MOUNTAINS AND GROS VENTRE RANGE...JACKSON HOLE...YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK AND THE ABSAROKA MOUNTAINS.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low in the early morning and increase to Moderate as heavy snowfall and strong winds form new surface slabs upon the existing hard snow surfaces.
