Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of fresh unstable windslab will build throughout the period with greatest accumulations on South-East to South-West aspects above 800 metres. Fragile cornices will form above these aspects. Elsewhere stability will generally be good with old snow frozen and firm. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be fresh Northerly winds and showers, falling as snow to low levels. The freezing level will be close to sea level. Observed Weather Influences: Early snow showers soon cleared to give a dry day with fresh North-Easterly winds. The freezing level was around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Isolated and shallow accumulations of moderately bonded windslab are present mainly on South-West to North-West aspects above 800 metres. Elsewhere there is a thin covering of fresh snow with old snow patches frozen and firm. The avalanche hazard is Low.
