Avalanche Activity

Avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on very steep north and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m.

Avalanches can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack and reach medium size. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep northwest, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m. The wind slabs of last week can still be released in some cases in particular on shady slopes. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain above approximately 2400 m. These places are clearly recognisable to the trained eye. In addition individual mostly small gliding avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

Wind slabs are lying on unfavourable layers on steep northwest, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m. Faceted weak layers exist in the centre of the old snowpack, especially on northwest, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m. In all altitude zones only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
