Avalanche Activity

New snow in the high Alpine regions. Wet snow at intermediate altitudes.

The new snow of the last few days represents the main danger. Individual dry avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small. These can be released, mostly by large loads in isolated cases, but they will be small in most cases. Below approximately 1900 m mostly small moist and wet snow slides are possible.

Snowpack Structure

At intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying. The new snow of the last few days has bonded quite well with the old snowpack at high altitude. The sometimes strong wind has transported only a little snow. Fresh wind slabs are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Below approximately 1900 m the snow is moist.
