Problèmes avalancheux

  • Wet snow

    • Above 1,800 m

Avalanche Activity

Above approximately 1800 m small moist and wet avalanches are possible.

As a consequence of the strong foehn wind individual small moist and wet avalanches are possible above approximately 1800 m. Especially gullies and bowls are unfavourable.

Snowpack Structure

Below approximately 1800 m hardly any snow is lying. Above approximately 1800 m a little snow is lying. The old snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. On Friday it will be very mild. The wind will be strong in particular in the northeast and in the east. As a consequence of mild temperatures, very cloudy skies and the strong foehn wind, an unfavourable avalanche situation will develop. These weather conditions will give rise to significant moistening of the snowpack. These conditions will cause a weakening of the snow drift accumulations also at high altitude.
