Points saillants

Wind and snowfall amounts not expected to bump hazard up. But, be aware of areas of intense transport where new wind slab will form.

Problèmes avalancheux

  • Wind Slabs

    • Alpin
    • Limite forestière
    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Unlikely - Possible
    Taille
    1–2
Continued development expected to occur as winds shift and pick up from the west.
  • Deep Persistent Slabs

    • Alpin
    • Limite forestière
    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Possible
    Taille
    1–3
This weak layer exists below a strong mid-pack at treeline and sub-alpine elevations. Large loads such as a cornice collapse could trigger this deep persistent weakness.

Weather Forecast

The winds will shift and pick up from the west and that will bring more unsettled convective activity on Friday and a start to some light accumulation through Saturday. This load is not expected to increase hazard in sheltered areas but will provide more snow to transport in open areas.

Snowpack Summary

A Shallow low density upper snowpack sits on a strong, supportive mid-pack which is bridging a weaker facet base.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanche activity reported in the forecast area.

Confidence

Intensity of incoming weather systems is uncertain on Friday
