Points saillants

Avalanches large enough to bury or injure a rider will remain unlikely on Tuesday.  Nonetheless, I won't be throwing caution to the wind.  Riders should continue to use safe travel techniques, and if folks are venturing onto bigger and steeper slopes, snowpack evaluation is still valuable.

Avalanche Discussion

Despite very warm daytime high temperatures (46.4 F at Moon Mt today), we haven't observed significant Wet Loose avalanches.  The days are short and the December sun is weak.  Our forecast team hasn't been finding any problematic persistent weak layers, but we are still building confidence in our assessment of the snowpack throughout the region.

The current weather will likely draw folks further into the high country.  It's a good idea to do your own snowpack assessment before committing to big, steep slopes.
