Stormy weather nearly always means that we see Wind Slab avalanches in alpine terrain and at treeline where the wind is free to move snow onto sheltered lee slopes. The Wind Slab avalanche problem on Sunday will be tied directly to the snow level which is forecast at 6,800 ft. This means that open bowls and slopes at treeline might sneak through with all snow and Wind Slab avalanches are possible. Watch for where the wind is blowing the snow, and evaluate how much new snow has accumulated on these lee slopes (it may be easy if the crust from Friday and Saturday is present).
