The most dangerous slopes will be wind-drifted slopes close to ridgelines. In these areas, you can still trigger an avalanche from a distance or at the base of a hill. Obvious signs of instability like cracking and collapsing are disappearing, but if you step onto a steep slope, you can still trigger a large, deadly avalanche. You can find safer riding on slopes sheltered from the wind where there is no slab or on lower-angle slopes.
