Points saillants
DANGEROUS and UNSTABLE avalanche conditions continue in the Tetons. At mid and higher elevations warm termperatures over the weekend hardened the snow surface. This surface is the top layer of slabs up to four feet in depth that lie upon a very weak layer of faceted snow and crusts. Unpredictable slides on a variety of aspects could be triggered today in the backcountry by the first or later persons on a slope. This type of weakness may remain in the snowpack for extended periods. At low elevations, avalanches are unlikely in the shallow snowpack.
