Points saillants

Cold temperatures have again formed a melt-freeze crust on the surface of the snowpack except at the lowest elevations. Therefore the general avalanche hazard at all elevations is LOW in the early morning today. As temperatures rise today and this surface crust softens the hazard will increase to MODERATE at all elevations. Once this occurs wet loose and wet slab avalanches could be triggered today on steep avalanche terrain. These slabs could have depths up to three feet at the upper elevations. Yesterday afternoon a skier triggered an 18" wet slab in Pinedale Canyon on a North facing slope.
