Avalanche Summary

Warm sunny weather, with weak or nonexistent overnight freezes, makes the threat of wet avalanche activity your primary concern. Start and end your day early to minimize this risk. Slushy surface conditions, punching through into deeper moist snow, or roller balls and pinwheels coming out of steep rocky terrain indicate that more wet avalanche activity is imminent.

The most likely place to trigger a small avalanche is on north-facing slopes at the highest elevations. Even a small avalanche can be dangerous if it sweeps you off your feet.
