Avalanche Summary

An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the Park Range from 5 AM Wednesday through 5 PM Wednesday. Heavy snow and very strong west winds will create thick slabs on easterly slopes. This intense loading could overload more deeply buried weak layers, leading to large, destructive avalanches.

For Tuesday, the main concern is a buried weak layer beneath all of February's snow. Although it is getting harder to trigger avalanches on this layer, if you do, the avalanche could be large enough to bury you. You can reduce your risk by avoiding the steepest and rockiest slopes.
