Avalanche Summary

Avalanche conditions are unusual and deceiving right now. You likely won't experience any signs of instability, and you might be able to travel on a slope a dozen times or more before triggering a large and destructive avalanche that brings the entire slope down on top of you. You can trigger these avalanches from a distance so be aware of any steep slopes you are traveling underneath. The most dangerous slopes face west through north to southeast near and above treeline. South and southwest-facing slopes offer safer travel options but the easiest way to dramatically reduce your chances of being caught in an avalanche is to avoid travel on or under steep slopes facing these aspects of concern.
