At the highest elevations small pockets of shallow wind slab, created by westerly winds, may be forming on leeward aspects. These slabs could be up to eight inches deep and lie upon faceted snow and hard crusts. These slabs could knock a skier or rider over and be a hazard above cliff areas and on very steep slopes. Monitor conditions and be aware of this avalanche hazard in isolated terrain features.

On Monday skies will be overcast with periods of occasional light snowfall. Accumulations of an inch or two are possible. Temperatures will be in the teens in the mountains. Winds will back towards the west and increase to 15 to 25 miles per hour.The snowpack is stable below the late November crust. Increasing winds will begin to form small pockets of shallow wind slab 4 to 8 inches deep in upper elevation avalanche starting zones. These shallow slabs could knock over a skier or rider and pose a hazard on very steep slopes and above cliff areas. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Monitor conditions and be aware of heightened hazard in isolated terrain features on the lee side of our highest ridge crests and summits.
