Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

The danger of wet and gliding avalanches in all regions is within the uppermost range of danger level. The new snow of the last three days represents the main danger. The new snow can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects at high altitude. Below approximately 2200 m small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible. Especially at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area in some localities up to 40 cm of snow has fallen since Friday above approximately 1900 m. The covering of new snow is moist. The new snow can be released easily or naturally in all aspects above the tree line. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow significantly.
