Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Precipitation throughout the period will be rain at all levels, heaviest in the afternoon. Very strong West-South-Westerly winds, increasing in speed through the day. The freezing level will be well above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry morning with precipitation during the afternoon, turning to rain at all levels. The freezing level was initially around 700 metres rising above the summits later. Strengthening South-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: There is a shallow cover of snow on most aspects above 700 metres. The snowpack is well bonded and stable throughout. The avalanche hazard is Low.
