Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered areas during the afternoon, mainly on North-East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Accumulations are not expected to gain much depth nor be extensive, and almost all will be deposited on bare ground. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be storm force Southerly veering overnight to be Westerly during the day and easing to gale force. Overnight, precipitation will fall as rain at all levels with the freezing level above all summits. From the late morning light precipitation will increasingly turn to snow to lower levels as the freezing level gradually drops to around 500 metres by late afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: It was a mild wet day with light rain at all levels. The freezing level remained above all summits. Winds were strong, West-South-Westerly backing Southerly during the morning. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining small snow patches continued to melt and further diminish. They are wet and generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
