The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above 7,500 feet. There, skiers and riders might be able to trigger wind slabs in steep, wind loaded terrain. On northerly aspects above 9,000 feet, these surface slabs still have some potential to step down and release deep persistent slabs failing near the ground. Large triggers, such as snowmobiles or big groups, may be needed to directly trigger these deep persistent slabs. Below 7,500 feet, the general avalanche hazard is LOW and avalanches are unlikely.

Weak, faceted snow exists at the base of the snow pack on shaded aspects above 9,000 feet. On steep avalanche prone slopes, some potential remains for backcountry travelers to trigger dangerous, full depth hard slab avalanches on this persistent weak layer. Large triggers, such as snowmobiles, are more likely to be able impact this deep weak layer. However, skiers could also cause failure if they hit a shallow weak spot connected to deeper snow. Previous tracks should not be interpreted as a sign of stability.
