Avalanche Summary

Beware of triggering an avalanche due to strong winds that cause snow to drift into dense slabs on upper elevations. Drifted snow appears like pillows and has a textured appearance. You can find it below ridgelines, in gullies, and on steep rollovers. Easterly-facing slopes are the most dangerous. Even a small slide can be deadly in extreme terrain. Seek sheltered areas from the wind, slopes less than 35 degrees, and lower elevation slopes if you notice cracking in the new snow.
