As a consequence of sharply rising temperatures a critical avalanche situation will develop. As the moisture increases the size of the avalanche prone locations will increase. Large avalanches are possible. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. In particular on steep shady slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach large size.

20 to 30 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 2500 m. The new snow is lying on soft layers in particular on shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. In addition avalanche prone wind slabs will form in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain as the day progresses. Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, in particular at high altitude.
